Derby College Group T Level construction student Priya Sangha is doing so well in her work experience placement that she’s already been offered an interview for a degree apprenticeship.
If successful, Priya – who will complete the two-year T Level next summer – will study part-time for a degree in quantity surveying at Sheffield Hallam University while working for Kier Construction.
The 17-year-old from Duffield is learning on site in her T Level placement with Kier alongside studying at DCG’s Roundhouse.
She is currently assisting in the construction of the University of Derby’s high profile new business school in Friar Gate.
She said: “I love being involved in this exciting project. I’m learning the practical skills as well as the academic ones I’ll need to be a QS. My placement has also been great for my personal development.
“I’d definitely recommend T Levels. They’re perfect if like me you know what you want to do. They’ve helped to fast track me in my chosen career.”
Priya’s experience of college has so inspired her younger brother Yuvraj that he’s coming to Derby College next year to take the same course.
Priya added: “He’s just done GCSEs and also wants to be a QS. He’s seen how taking the T Level route has worked out well for me.”
