Almost 1000 visitors, from the community and industries, enjoyed the wide variety of engaging displays.
It really was an exceptional event where the talented students presented their outstanding final projects, highlighting their diverse skills and incredible imagination.
The unique exhibition was held at the state-of-the-art Joseph Wright Centre and offered a terrific opportunity for the community to witness the creativity and innovation of our future industry leaders.
Visitors were able to experience a wide range of projects, including digital media, graphic design, fine arts, music, photography, film production and much more.
And for those interested in studying with Derby College Group, this gave them an opportunity to gain an insight into the College.
Neema Johal, Curriculum Manager – Media, Games Development & E-Sports led on pulling the event together along with Daniel Bochenski, Curriculum Manager and Digital Multimedia Course Coordinator.
Neema Johal commented: “We are incredibly proud of our students and their exceptional work. They had been working tirelessly to get everything ready for the showcase. And the exhibition really is a testament to their creativity, hard work, and dedication.”
“The Creative & Digital Exhibition was a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their skills and to receive the recognition from the community and industry professionals.
“And it was so good to hear so many positive comments about the students’ work from those that visited.”
Charlie Gibbs (19) from Ripley is studying an Extended Diploma in Multimedia and has been at Derby College for three years.
Charlie originally studied performing arts for one year, before moving across to multimedia. His final project is around the more obscure band t-shirts of the 90s.
Charlie said of the course and his progression: “The transition across to multimedia was pretty easy.
“And DCG has been such a supportive environment with the teachers giving me the time and space that is needed. And in general, they have been really helpful and encouraging.”
Charlie offered advice as to how you should approach your studying, saying: “Be open to as much as possible, research new ideas and keep learning.”
Lilimae Wakefield (17) from Alvaston, previously attended the Noel Baker Academy and is studying an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts.
Lillimae commented on the course and DCG: “I have learnt many new dance techniques and have had a number of opportunities to perform in public, including at the Festival of Light.
“At DCG it is good just to throw yourself into the course and take all the opportunities it offers you.” Lilli is ultimately looking to become an actor on screen or on the West End.
Lazurus Karopoulos (19) who came to the UK from Greece eight years ago, previously went to West Park School in Spondon. He originally studied Creative Media, but then moved over to a Level 3 Diploma in Esports.
Lazurus commented: “It has been a great environment to study in and the teachers have coached me and helped me determine what direction I wanted to pursue. I am looking forward to going to university to study event management.”
