Entry Requirements
You will need a keen interest in horticulture plus Maths and English at Level 1.

What will you learn?
The course will cover:
- Plant Identification – provides the skills and knowledge to enable learners to identify a wide range of plants.
- Plant Establishment – provides learners with the skills involved in the establishment of plants in containers and the open ground.
- Plant Propagation – provides learners with the skills and underpinning knowledge to propagate plants professionally.
- Plant Health – provides the skills to be able to identify and prevent a range of threats to plant health.
- Plant Care – equips learners with the skills and knowledge to be able to implement garden maintenance plans.
- Plant Pruning – equips learners with the horticultural skills and knowledge to be able to prune a range of plants.
- Garden Features – provides learners with the skills and underpinning knowledge to be able to care for and maintain a wide range of garden features.
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
You will be required to supply your own:
- Steel toe-capped boots/wellingtons
- Overalls
- Secateurs
- Wet weather clothing
- Writing materials
How will you be assessed?
The course will be assessed throughout to meet RHS criteria.
Where next?
After the course, students can take the RHS Level 2 in Garden Planning and RHS Theory. There is also the Level 3 Practical Certificate in Horticulture.
