Course Information for Students

This course is ring-fenced for NHS employees

The qualification is aimed at NHS staff who wish to gain further skills to develop their careers and progress in the NHS. It is suitable for anyone who is new to a team leading role, or those who are hoping to become a team leader as they advance their careers.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course but a good understanding of both written and spoken English, as well as knowledge of using IT equipment, will be useful.

This course is split into eight manageable units:

Unit 1: Principles of team leading

Unit 2: Understand business

Unit 3: Understand how to communicate work-related information

Unit 4: Understand how to manage performance and conflict in the workplace

Unit 5: Principles of equality and diversity in the workplace

Unit 6: Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues

Unit 7: Understand health and safety procedures in the workplace

Unit 8: Understand how to develop and deliver a presentation

This course is blended, with classroom delivery and virtual coaching sessions.

There are no additional costs but access to IT equipment and the Internet is required.

You will complete workbooks using our online platform, with 1:1 coach / tutor support.

You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence which is put together during the course and demonstrates that you have met the required assessment criteria. On completion, the portfolio of evidence is submitted in an online format.

You could progress to another free qualification such as the:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Information, Advice or Guidance
  • Level 2 Certificate in Living in a Fair and Diverse Society
  • Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business Administration

  • Level 2 Certificate in Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values
  • Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Safe Handling of Medication

  • Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges
  • Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Nutrition and Health
  • Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Retail Operations

  • Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Warehousing
