DCG Success Stories

Kyle Traynor
BTEC Level 3 Extended diploma helps Kyle is prepared for business degree
I highly recommend my level 3 course. It covers so much including finance, tax, human resources and the English legal system in relation to consumer protection and workplace rights. I also enjoyed doing the unit on the principles of management and leadership theory which looks at what makes a good manager. The personal finance unit was good too as it looks at what I’d need to study to become a financial adviser. It covers ISAs and other savings plans, budgeting, cost cutting and financial planning.

Ashley Grell
DCG business lecturers provide “great support and quality teaching”
At Derby College we had regular one-to-ones with our lecturers. They were always there to help us and see if we were ok. I think it really helps you stay motivated when teachers guide you in your learning. Derby College teachers are equipped with the skills and acumen needed to teach other students, and the College should definitely be recommended more.

Libbi Myers
Lockdown picnic box success for former Roundhouse business student
So many of the business skills I use every day were acquired on my course at Derby College. I learned so much about marketing and finance, and taking the course also gave me the confidence to start a business.

Alison Biskup
Derby College “really good” for mortgages administrator Alison
Derby College is really good for me. At school I was always encouraged to go to university but it's not something I wanted to do. Really, I just wanted to go out and earn my own living and Derby College has helped me do that. Once I've completed my college courses, I'd like to do my industry CeMAP exams. I'd love to be a broker – either that or become amazing in administration and be somebody who knows all about mortgages.

Aaron Curd
Business BTEC helps Aaron onto the property career ladder
The course opened up lots of different routes I could have taken, and lots of different topics, like human resources, marketing, law and setting up your own business. I did work experience at Hannells and they offered me a job at the end of August. My studies help with my work, particularly in marketing and customer services. I'm enjoying every day – it's a career. The course narrowed down what I wanted to do and set me up for my job.

Luke Wilkins
Derby College diploma equips Luke for business degree
I really liked the structure of my business diploma. The course covered everything from finance to marketing and equipped me well to study business at university. Taking business at A level would have given me a snapshot but not the bigger picture. I liked my tutors too and am still in touch with a few of them. I really do owe a lot my success to my time at Derby College.
