Who is this course for?
This course covers the safe driving of a tractor, pre-use maintenance and safety checks, and recognition of controls and instruments.
Entry Requirements
The minimum age for candidates taking this course is 16 years.
What will you learn?
The course will cover:
- Identifying any hazard specific to the site, task and machine
- Identifying and explaining functions of all instruments and controls on the machine
- Carrying out daily pre-use checks on the tractor
- Demonstrating knowledge of precautions to be observed when driving with heavily loaded trailers and implements
- Mounting vehicle, carrying out safety checks and starting engine
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site at Broomfield Hall.
What will you need to bring with you?
You will be required to supply your own:
- Overalls
- Steel toe-capped boots
- Writing materials
- Lunch (there will be facilities on-site if you wish to purchase your lunch here)
How will you be assessed?
There is a formal NPTC assessment which can be taken at the College using our tractors – or your own site using your own tractor – and this will take approximately two to three hours.
