Who is this course for?
Current legislation requires those whose work involves the use of chainsaws to be adequately trained and qualified. The training course offered by Derby College Group equips the candidate to undertake an industry-compliant ‘Certificate of Competence’ assessment.
Entry Requirements
You will need to be at least 18 years of age. Ideally you should have some experience in the industry.
What will you learn?
The course will cover:
- The knowledge, practical implications and legal requirements concerning the use of a chainsaw
- The knowledge and practical skills to safely and efficiently undertake basic chainsaw maintenance operations
- The knowledge and practical skills to safely and efficiently undertake practical cross-cutting operations
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
All specialist safety clothing can be provided by the College, for which a fee is payable.
Please note, equipment is not available for hire for the assessments. You will therefore need to have other arrangements in place for your assessment.
Candidates may use their own chainsaws on the course providing that they comply with current legislation.
It is recommended that candidates do not specifically purchase specialist equipment prior to the course. During the training, advice on the purchase of all specialist equipment will be offered by the course instructor.
How will you be assessed?
Assessment leading to certification will take place as soon as possible following the successful completion of the training course.
