Level 2 Award in Instructing Studio Cycling
The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with an understanding of the legal and professional requirements of a group cycling instructor. Learners are provided with an understanding of the key concepts of studio cycling and how technology can be used in studio cycling sessions. Learners are also provided with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, prepare and deliver safe and effective group studio cycling sessions.

Who is this course for?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with an understanding of the legal and professional requirements of a group cycling instructor. Learners are provided with an understanding of the key concepts of studio cycling and how technology can be used in studio cycling sessions. Learners are also provided with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, prepare and deliver safe and effective group studio cycling sessions.
Courses are delivered over three weeks with two face-to-face sessions at the start and end of the course. They are delivered at Broomfield Hall on the following dates:
EA Saturday 05/08/23 & 19/09/23
EB Saturday 7/10/23 & 21/10/23
EC Saturday 13/01/24 & 27/01/24
ED Saturday 18/05/24 & 1/06/24
The course costs £177.50.
Entry Requirements
Applicants need to possess a suitable Level 2 fitness instructing qualification, for example:
- Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing
- Level 2 Certificate in Group Training
- Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing
Some experience of studio cycling is useful. The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. Candidates must be good communicators and be comfortable in delivering sessions to clients. Candidates should have basic skills in communication pitched at Level 1.

There is one unit broken down into two distinct sections:
- Planning studio cycling sessions
- Instructing studio cycling sessions

- The legal and professional requirements for group studio cycling
- The skills, motivations and behaviours needed when delivering to groups
- The key concepts of studio cycling
- The principles of training for studio cycling
- How technology can be used in studio cycling sessions
- The safety considerations when instructing a studio cycling session
- How to clean and maintain studio cycling equipment
- Plan a safe and effective group studio cycling session
- Prepare clients for a studio cycling session
- Deliver a safe and effective group studio cycling session
- Evaluate own practice

This course will be delivered on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
There are no additional costs but candidates will need to be dressed appropriately to participate in, and lead, sessions on and off a spin bike.

- Worksheet
