This new Level 4 apprenticeship is ideal for anyone who wants to take their career to more senior levels in a home care environment.

Course Information for Students
Who is this course for?
This apprenticeship is aimed at anyone working in a home care environment as a supervisor who wants to progress. Ideally you would have completed the Level 2 Adult Care qualification but – if you have a degree of experience – this will be taken into consideration.
You will need to have a good standard of English and maths.
Entry Requirements
You should be aged 19+ and should have GCSEs graded 3/D or Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English. If you haven’t achieved these qualifications, you will need to be screened for maths and English and will have to achieve a Level 1, enabling you to complete a Level 2 during the apprenticeship.
You also need a Care certificate but we can support you with this.
You should be working in a care environment but, again, we can support you with this.
What will you learn?
Examples of what the apprenticeship covers include:
- The importance of communication
- Duty of care
- How to champion wellbeing
- The importance of safeguarding
- Health and safety responsibilities and how to action these processes to ensure the environment is safe
- Personal support and care plan for the elderly
- Equality and diversity
- Maths and English Level 2 unless exempt
How will you learn?
- 1-1 support from your assessor
- Independent study
- Resources provided by the College and accessed on a Teams site
What will you need to bring with you?
You need a laptop.

- Underpinning knowledge questions
- Products of work
- External End Point Assessment
Where next?
You could advance to a Level 4 programme, depending on your job role.

Is there any financial support available?
There is no cost to the apprentice but a 5% cost of the funding to the employer.

Apprenticeship summary
This is a Level 3 apprenticeship ideal for any members of your team wanting to progress from Level 2.
Examples of the range of subjects they will cover include:

- Personal support and care plan for the elderly
- Equality and diversity
- Maths and English Level 2 (unless exempt)
The apprenticeship entails 20% off-the-job training and an End Point Assessment.
Are they any entry requirements for my apprentice?
The apprentice should be aged 19+, have a Care certificate and have a Level 2 qualification or experience.
What is required from the employer in the workplace?
- Support and training
- Paid time for the apprentice to study and attend College if they need to complete Functional Skills
- Communication with the assessor
- Reviews to be completed and signed in a timely fashion
