Course Information for Students

Did you know?  Whilst studying this programme you will build upon your own Sustainability and Digital Skills which will be embedded throughout your time at Derby College.  For Sustainability we envisage you will become attuned to supporting the NetZero strategic plans and will be able to embed this into your daily lives through recycling, awareness of product sourcing and reducing carbon emissions.  Your digital skills will grow through the use of key technological platforms, app usage and awareness of current trends such as AI to support your learning.

This module aims to build commercial awareness by developing your knowledge of the workings of commercial organisations and the basic skills that enable you to make contributions to the commercial development of an equine business.  

Working as a whole group, you will have responsibility for planning, organising and running an event at DCG’s Equestrian Centre. You will individually produce a portfolio of evidence, which details the planning, marketing, organisation and implementation of an equestrian event. Following the completion of the event at the College, you are required to produce a reflective report to evidence your individual performance.

You should have an interest in running equestrian events and be aged 18 years+.

You will learn and undertake the planning of an equestrian event through budget planning, collaboration and research.

  • Plan, organise and run at least one equestrian event at DCG’s Equestrian Centre
  • Produce an appropriate advertising and marketing campaign to promote the equestrian event
  • Create and complete detailed financial documents in relation to an equestrian event
  • Critically evaluate both individual and team performance in the run up to – and during – the equestrian event
  • Practical and theory discussion
