Who is this course for?
This course is for those who want to work and interact directly with children on a day-to-day basis, supporting the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes within the ethos of the setting. An Early Years Practitioner works as part of a professional team ensuring the welfare and care of children under the guidance and supervision of an Early Years Educator, teacher or other suitably qualified professional in the workforce.
This apprenticeship included:
- Level 2 Diploma embedded
- Maths and English Level 1 Functional Skills with a Level 2 uplift
- End-point assessment
- 20% off-the-job training
- Full support from an assessor who is also your tutor
Entry Requirements
You need:
- to be working in an early years environment with a range of children from babies to five-year-olds
- a good standard of English and Maths and working towards FS level 1.
- an ambition to pursue an early years career
What will you learn?
- Level 1 Maths and English uplifted to Level 2
- Off-the-job training hours
- End-point assessment
- Level 2 Diploma covering working in partnership with carers and parents; safeguarding and child protection; using play to support children’s learning and growth; use and importance of hygiene; communication and wellbeing of children; and health, safety and wellbeing of children
- You will learn a range of theoretical knowledge about health and safety, hazards and regulations relating to looking after babies and children – including signs and symptoms of injuries and safeguarding policies and procedures.
- You will also develop professional behaviour, communication techniques, knowledge of nutrition and hygiene, and the ability to keep documentary records.

What will you need to bring with you?
1.1 delivery model with assessor.
Your assessor will arrange observations, reviews and meetings with you.
How will you be assessed?
The apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace and 1.1 delivery with your assessor.

You can progress on to the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification (subject to receiving apprenticeship vacancy offer).
