Who is this course for?
This course is for individuals who would like to have an introduction to commercial grooming and an insight into what a dog grooming career can entail. The course covers the procedures of bathing, drying and preparing dogs.
Entry Requirements
You must be aged 19+ and have a keen interest in dog grooming and canine health/wellbeing.
- You must provide your own dog for the course (no handstripping breeds)
- The dog must be well behaved for training
- The dog cannot be matted
- Dogs must be up to date with vaccinations and proof of this should be brought to the salon on the day of the course.

What will you learn?
The day covers the care, health and basic grooming of your dog.
- Care and health of your own dog
- Brushing and preparing your own dog before bathing
- Bathing your own dog
- Drying your own dog
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
- Lunch and refreshments
- You should be able to source one small to medium-sized dog. (All dogs must be fully vaccinated and proof of vaccination must be shown on arrival at the College)
- You are required to wear sensible closed-toe flat footwear and trousers/jeans
The College provides all the other equipment needed within the salon for you to use on the course.
How will you be assessed?
Assessment is by observation of your practical performance throughout the day.
