Course Information for Students

This course is aimed at individuals who operate hand-held hedge cutters as part of their work, either in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, arboriculture or forestry. It will provide them with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to prepare and operate a hand-held hedge cutter safely and to industry standards in line with current legislation.

All candidates must be over the age of 16. 

Safe use of hand-held hedge cutters, covering pre-use checks and maintenance, identification of controls and instruments, and operating the machine to cut hedges to the capacity of the machine.

Learning will be delivered on site at Broomfield Hall.

You will be required to supply your own:

  • Steel toe-capped boots
  • Writing materials
  • Lunch (there will be facilities available on site if you wish to purchase your lunch here)

Candidates will complete a practical test with one-to-one verbal questioning on the same day as the training.
