Certificate in Gym Instruction and Instructing Kettlebells – Level 2

This course is designed for people wishing to pursue careers in the health and fitness sector as gym-based fitness instructors. The course is made up of two qualifications: the Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing and the Level 2 Award in Instructing Kettlebells.

Courses are delivered over 12 weeks and are due to start at Broomfield Hall campus on:

Wednesday: 15/09/23 – 06/12/23

Wednesday: 13/12/23 – 20/03/24

Wednesday: 27/03/24 – 03/07/24

Course fees are £277.50.

A minimum of eight candidates is required in order for each course to start. 

There are no formal entry requirements. However:

• Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended.
• The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential. Therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
• There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at Level 2.

Course content will cover:

• Anatomy, physiology and nutrition and how they relate to exercise and fitness.

Health and safety in the fitness environment.

The skills to conduct client consultations and support positive behaviour change.

The skills to plan, instruct and supervise safe and effective exercise and physical activity sessions.

Professionalism for fitness instructing and delivering exceptional customer service.

Planning and instructing a kettlebell session.

This course will be delivered on-site.

There are no additional costs. However, you will be required to have suitable clothing to participate in physical activity sessions.

This ACTIVEiQ course is CIMSPA endorsed.

You will be assessed through:

• Coursework/Worksheets
• Multiple Choice Examination
• Portfolio of Evidence
• Practical Demonstration/Assessment

This qualification provides progression to other courses to study at DCG, such as the:

• Level 2 Certificate in Group Training
• Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training
• Level 2 Award in Understanding Nutrition, Performance and Healthy Eating
• Level 2 Award in Smoking Cessation
• Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy
