Course Information for Students

This is a practical course allowing you to practise elements of the Canine First Aid course so that you become more confident and competent in first aid procedures. On completion of the course, you will be issued with a College certificate. 

You should have a genuine interest in dogs and should be keen to establish an understanding of canine first aid. Opportunities will be provided to practise certain procedures. 

This is a largely practical course, with the opportunity to ask questions. 

Theory and practical: 

  • Use and application of restraint equipment
  • Scene assessment
  • CPR
  • TPR
  • Bandaging

The course takes place on the Animal Unit at Broomfield Hall. 

You will be required to supply your own: 

  • Sensible closed-toe flat footwear
  • Sensible clothing
  • Writing materials
  • Refreshments

There is no formal assessment. Assessment is by observation of your practical performance throughout the session.
