Who is this course for?
This one-day course aims to prepare participants for the NPTC Certificate of Competence in the ‘Safe Use of Pesticides’ qualification. The course also includes assessment, to be arranged on a separate day.
Entry Requirements
You must have passed your PA1 Foundation module before taking the PA6 assessment. The course is taken in conjunction with PA6A.
The minimum age for candidates is 16 years.
What will you learn?
The course will cover:
- General safety and routine maintenance of the sprayer
- Adjustment, setting and calibration
- Measuring and mixing pesticides
- Operating the hand-held sprayer
- Decontamination of the sprayer and protective clothing
How will you learn?
Learning will be both theory and practical-based, delivered on site.
What will you need to bring with you?
You will be required to supply your own:
- Steel toe-capped wellington boots
- Spray suit
- Rubber gloves approved for pesticide use
- Writing materials
- Lunch (there will be facilities available on site if you wish to purchase your lunch at College)
How will you be assessed?
There is a practical assessment, lasting approximately two hours, which is taken on a separate day. Tests can be taken at College or on your own site.
