You will then work with our team of estimators to learn the skill used to produce quotations and preliminary detail drawings for our customers.

What will the apprentice be doing?
An Apprentice Estimator’s duties will include but not limited to:
- Looking at architectural drawings and providing quotations on standard and bespoke aluminium building products
- Working closely with the senior estimator
- Working with Bluebeam software to produce take-offs
- AutoCAD and detail preliminary drawings
- Using take-offs with preliminary details to produce product quantities
- Preparing detailed quotations for new and existing and new clients
- Consulting with Production on manufacturing restrictions and processes to ensure products can be manufactured
- Liaison with the Technical department to ensure that preliminary details are compliant with the company’s design principles
- Being a point of contact for incoming calls and emails from new and existing clients
- Supporting Directors on site visits making sure all paperwork is correct, accurate and up to date
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Engineering technician Level 3 Pathway - Product Design and Development Technician
You will spend four days each week working alongside and learning from experienced colleagues, and one day each week completing training at DCG's Roundhouse Campus.
After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Product Design and Development
Plus one of the following - Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technology (QCF) – for starts up to June 2017 only
- Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Technologies (QCF) - for starts up to June 2017 only
- Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - for all starts from 1st July 2017
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of this apprenticeship, you could progress to Project Management, Production Processing or become a Graduate Estimator.
