What will the apprentice be doing?

The role includes training on various maintenance techniques, safety protocols, and the use of specialised tools and machinery.

Ideal candidates are eager to learn, have a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and are committed to developing their skills in a dynamic work environment.

• Day to day maintenance of the facility and the “Planned Preventative Maintenance” system.
• Always confirm the plant is maintained to ensure safe and efficient and timely continued operation.
• Follow the requirements of all relevant legal, regulatory and Sterigenics Corporate requirements.
• Where required assist with the installation and implementation of capital projects.
• Adhere to relevant procedures and assist where required with the control of contractors involved with maintenance operations and capital projects whilst working at the facility
• Work as a team player within the engineering department and help with meeting all agreed objectives.
• Follow the requirements of permits and safe systems of work.
• Ensure that site housekeeping in sections within your control are maintained to the required standard.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Apprentices will work towards the level 3 Engineering technician apprenticeship standard - Mechatronics Maintenance Technician pathway. Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date. 

Qualifications include;

• Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
• Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician
• Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
