Working week
Your normal hours of work will be 39 hours a week Monday to Friday. 07:00 – 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 07:00 – 15:30 on Friday, or as directed by your Line Manager. Through avoidance of doubt each working day includes a 30-minute unpaid break.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Working with the Production Team to;
- Repair and refurbish Eddy Current and Ultrasonic Roller Search Units
- Repair and Service/Calibrate Test Vehicle and Walking Stick Equipment
- Assist in the assembly of New Build Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Assemblies to produce World Leading equipment.
Working with the Maintenance and System Support Team to;
- Work towards attending Breakdowns across the UK and Europe to fault find and rectify issues with the Test Vehicles.
- Manufacture and Install upgraded Test Equipment to continuously improve the Test Vehicle fleet.
- Complete required documentation within CMMS database to maintain records of all work completed.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Engineering Technician L3 Standard (ST0457) - Mechatronics Pathway
This apprenticeship will be completed by working 4 days per week onsite with the employer, learning the job role and gaining valuable work experience, and then 1 day per week attending Derby College to complete coursework and assessments.
English and Maths Functional Skills may be completed alongside the apprenticeship if necessary, however, passing this will be mandatory to receive the apprenticeship qualification.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of the apprenticeship there could be two optional routes for the candidate to take;
- Production Technician – Manufacture, Service and Calibrate Walking Sticks and related equipment
- Maintenance Engineer – Provide a first class service by attending Breakdowns and completing PPM.
