Module 4 -Assessment and Feedback
In this module you will explore the following:
Methods of assessment. Evaluate different methods and styles of assessment and explore which ones are more suitable for the courses you teach.
Effective formative assessment. Checking learning and understanding frequently is more effective and crucial for showing progress over time. In this theme we will explore how to best formatively assess students and record feedback to make progress. Learn the place of peer assessment, self-assessment, and teacher assessment and analyse its effectiveness.
Reducing summative assessment. In this theme you will explore how effective planning specific to assessment can avoid resubmissions and overloading students too many assessments. Learn to assess your students effectively to reduce stress and improve overall student experience.
Developmental feedback. What is developmental feedback and how can we encourage students to act on it to improve and meet targets. Explore what good developmental feedback looks like including links to assessment objectives, what went well and even better if.
Holistic assessment. How can we make sure that our students can draw on a range of learning and synoptically link topics together? Can we plan for synoptic learning?
