Television star Nick Knowles has visited Construction learnerss at the Hodgkinson Brickwork Academy at Derby College's Ilkeston campus to thank them for their involvement in the recent BBC DIY SOS Big Build project.

The latest Employer Academy to launch at Derby College aims to provide young people with the multi skills they will need in the changing construction industry. MBS, a Derby-based construction company which employs 30 plus staff across all the construction trades, has teamed up with the College to launch the MBS Construction Skills Academy.

Derby College has teamed up with Derby-based epm:technology to boost the number of young people entering the workplace with skills in advanced composites manufacturing. Applications are now being taken for the epm:technology Advanced Composites Academy which will start in September. An open day for potential learners to find out more will be held at the Roundhouse on Tuesday July 14 between 3pm and 7pm.
