Agriculture students at Derby College's Broomfield Hall campus has just returned from the Czech republic after a three day study tour. Thirteen students from the Morley based campus, were hosted by tractor manufacturer Zetor for the second year running.

They were able to test drive the latest tractors, tour the manufacturing plant production line and see some of the latest prototypes being tested on local farms. The students also visited a local arable farm and a massive dairy farm milking more than 800 cows three times a day.

A team of Agriculture students at Derby College’s Broomfield Hall campus have won a bronze medal in the regional final of the annual Great Farm Challenge.

The competition is organised by Natural England’s Catchment Sensitive Farming (CSF) Team alongside Seven Trent Water, Anglian Water and the Environment Agency.

Derby College's agriculture apprentice Mike Bosworth (23) has won a place in the finals of the National Shepherd Association's Young Shepherd competition after winning a bronze medal in the regional heats.

Agricultural learners at Derby College's Broomfield Hall have harvested a bumper crop of pumpkins in time for Hallowe'en.

Ploughing Match Success

Level 3 Agriculture student, Ashley Slater won the 1st prize in vintage ploughing and 1st prize for best kept tractor and plough at Brailsford Ploughing Match.
