Course Summary

7540-13 System Support or Systems and Principles qualifications provide ideal knowledge for those looking to progress in their career or learn new ICT skills. They are also appropriate for those looking to go further with their education on a City & Guilds Level 4 ICT qualification, a Higher Level Apprenticeship or a higher education course.

Entry requirements

The Level 3 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles for IT Professionals qualification is perfect for those looking to gain some in-depth skills and knowledge to start a career in an ICT job role.

No previous experience or qualifications in ICT are expected.  However we do expect a good standard of English along with the drive to succeed in the ICT industry.

  • Networking principles
  • Systems architecture

From Derby College to Workforce Planning Manager at Barclays Bank

After finishing school I wanted to focus specifically on IT and achieved better results when doing course work so chose a BTEC National Diploma at Derby College. I really enjoyed focusing solely on IT but having various different disciplines with the IT, it gave me a varied understanding of what is expected within each different branch of IT. My time at the College gave me an understanding of different roles that I could do in a work environment and what skills are applicable in each field. I use of the technical programming skills I learnt at the College on a day to day basis.

The most exciting part of my current role is training and developing new staff members, helping them to learn new technical process and learning transferable skills that can go across the industry.
