GCSE Mathematics covers many of the basic skills that you will need to use in a variety of ways all through your life. Basic mathematical techniques will help you study in many areas such as science, business, psychology and technology. A grade C in Mathematics is often a requirement to gain entry to a course or to advance your career.
This course is free (unless you already possess a pass grade at C or above in the subject, in which case fees will be £724 subject to concessions).
Please be aware that we only permit you to study either GCSE English or Maths in one academic year.
We will ask you to take a short test at your interview, to ensure that this will be a suitable course for you.
You will study Number, Geometry and Measure, Algebra and Statistics.
There are two written examination papers. One is a calculator paper and the other is a non-calculator paper. There is no coursework for GCSE Mathematics.
You will need a scientific calculator, a protractor, compasses and a ruler, in addition to the usual pens and pencils. We will advise you about a suitable course textbook.
A grade C in Mathematics is often a requirement for many courses or careers. A number of our learners also undertake this course so that they can help their own children with their work in mathematics.
