Employment opportunities within the security industry are growing. Roles include static and patrol guards, uniformed retail security guards, store detectives, CCTV operators, dog handlers and private investigators. This apprenticeship is your first step towards success within the industry.

Entry requirements

Your apprenticeship framework will be designed around your prior achievements and working requirements. Your standards of English and maths should be suitable for study at this level. Good communication skills are essential.

Course Content

There are several pathways in this sector such as:

  • static and patrol guarding
  • events security
  • door supervision
  • CCTV operation

This apprenticeship demonstrates the need for a calm head to assess different situations and helps you build the confidence to act when necessary. You’ll also learn the importance of keeping accurate records and handling documents.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments will take place through vocational competence, the development of a portfolio of evidence and assessment for the technical qualifications associated with the pathway. English and maths will be assessed through controlled assessment or exam.
